Blinded by Their Own Light

Some months ago I received an email which contained a video.   After reading the attached message and watching the video it contained, I found myself filled with so many thoughts; many far more profound than I had imagined.

I found it to be something very compelling on so many levels.  As a retired service member, I have my own personal set of feelings and otherwise emotional attachments to the content of this video.  As an individual who is also very proud to call myself an American, I also possess an entire additional set of emotional responses to it as well.  Furthermore, as an individual who is a self-professed non-Christian, there are also numerous other emotions that arise from the video.

Beyond all of the above, I cannot help but to wonder about the power behind the political atmosphere that has generated such a situation.  Personally the overall influences of this concept have provided one of the most devastating messages against progress toward any form of a common denominator.  Regarding my own personal opinions of the attitudes that have lead up to the creation of this situation, it is as though I have gone full circle in my conclusions about religiously based political ideals.

If I was to state that anger was not part of the emotions that presented themselves to me, it would be an untruth.  Therefore I make no such statement at this time, nor do I see myself stating or implying such in the future.

After watching this video and contemplating the many political issues that have become a part of my life, I can safely state that I cannot foresee a future where it will be easy for me to see “eye to eye” with Christian based reasoning on almost any issue.
