Hobbies & Interests
Activities:
Some of my basic interests include but are not limited to spending time with
my friends and family.
I love getting together either at their house or mine, although if given a
preference I'd rather everyone come to my house.
I love being outside, some outside activites I enjoy most are camping
and working with horses.
My boyfriend and I enjoy bonfires as often as weather permits.
Hobbies:
I think cooking would be right up there as number one, mostly because it’s something
I get to do everyday. I’m so glad my boyfriend is not a picky eater and
only allergic to shrimp. I love trying out new recipes, whether it’s stove-top,
baking, crock pot or otherwise. I see microwaves as glorified ‘warmer uppers’
and rarely use them for anything else. Collecting recipes and cookbooks is something
I shared with my mother and when she passed away I inherited about three floor to ceiling bookcases of cookbooks from her
as well as many shoe boxes filled with recipes she had cut out of old magazines.
Crafting would be another hobby, but there are so many categories for this one. I like to sit and crochet a lot because it’s something I can do while sitting in the livingroom and
talking with my boyfriend. I like canvas painting or working on ceramics when
I’m needing to be alone.
Music:
I'm a bit all over the board on this one actually. Living as far out
of the way as we do, radio reception leaves a lot to be desired. Mostly I find myself listening to "70's on 7" or "80's
on 8" via a Direct TV connection.
If I had to pick only one category I suppose it would be Country, yet my music
collection contains a lot of stuff by Journey, Cher, Air Supply, Whitesnake, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart to name a few.
Movies & Television:
As far as movies go, I get into drama and action films, but I also really get
into science fiction/fantasy films as well.
Some of the movies I love watching are Vin Diesel in "The Chronicles of
Riddick" and "The Fast and The Furious." I think Bruce Willis was great in all the "Die Hard" movies.
I totally loved the entire "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Some of my other
all time movie favorites fall in various different categories.
I enjoyed Kevin Costner in "Dances with Wolves."
I think that Patrick Swayze is one Hollywoods greatest leading men as seen
by his performances in "Ghost", "Dirty Dancing", "Road House" and the mini series "North and South."
Some others are "Steel Magnolias", "Lonesome Dove."
When it comes to television, I've never been into sitcoms.
While I don't actually "make time" so to speak to sit down and watch specific
programs, I do have my favorites. I enjoy watching "Dateline/Investigation ID" I also like "Forensic Files",
"FBI Cold Case Files", and other programs that are based on real life situations.
Currently I'm kind of 'into' watching "Criminal Minds' and I catch some of the CSI's every once in awhile.
I prefer CSI: NY out of the the three of them.
Books & Literature:
Right now I'm reading the "Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. It will be interesting to see what happens
with this particular series since he passed away in 2008.
Another of my favorite series style writings are "The Herald Mage" series by Mercedes Lackey.
I read all the "Lord of the Rings" books back in High School and "The Hobbit" when I was in grade school. I
still have hard bound volumes of all of them.
I've read the complete Dragonlance Series written by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman.
Some of the other authors I read and enjoy are romance books by Rosemary Rogers, especially her "Sweet Savage Love"
series and"The Wildest Heart." I also enjoy books by Kathleen Woodiwiss, especially "The Flame and The Flower", "Shanna"
and "The Wolf and The Dove."
I have a rather large collection of American Indian Romance Fiction written by two authors, Cassie Edwards and Karen
Kay.
